Shortcuts & tips

Keyboard

  • Enter — send the message. Shift+Enter — new line. (Flip this in Appearance.)
  • Esc — stop the current generation.
  • Ctrl+K — search your chats.
  • Double‑click the chat title — rename the session.

Slash commands

Type / in the composer and an autocomplete menu appears (like Slack) — each command on one line with a short hint. Arrow keys / Enter / Tab pick one; Esc closes it.

  • /cron 1h <prompt> — schedule a job that runs <prompt> every interval (N + m / h / d, e.g. 5m, 1h, 1d). See Cron.
  • /loop 1h <prompt> — alias of /cron.
  • /compact [focus] — compress the conversation context now (optional focus keeps that topic in full).
  • /context — show how full the context is.
  • /model <name> — switch the model.
  • /init — analyse the working folder and write a notrack_coder.json project‑memory file.
  • /clear — start a new chat.
  • /help — list the commands.

Working effectively

  • Set the working folder first so the agent reads and writes in the correct place.
  • Use Plan mode for risky work — review the plan, then switch to Auto or Ask to execute (see Agent).
  • Turn on Clean for a tidy read, off when you want to see exactly what the agent did.
  • Route hard steps to a bigger model with the agent's run_on_model — keep a fast local model for routine work and escalate only when needed.
  • Give the agent your context once and ask it to remember it (see Memory); it recalls the note in later chats.
  • Raise Effort for genuinely hard reasoning; keep it Off for quick questions.

That's the tour. Everything here runs on your machine — your data stays local.
